I like to paint.
I love the smell of paint, the beauty of the brushes, the deckle around the edges of the hot or cold pressed paper .
Each beginning with a blank sheet on the table before me, fills me with anticipation, knowing that the image I create is all mine and will be the result of my skill, vision, and ability to react to happy accidents that occur, especially with watercolor.
I execute paintings, drawings, and prints with the illusion of full control using all the skills I have honed over the years, incorporating my knowledge of paint, brushwork, color, and perspective, to make an illusion of my vision on paper.
In painting ,as in life, all is NOT under my control. Sometimes the paint seems to interact with the water, the paper, and whatever else, to form organic patterns that to me are beautiful accidents, giving the painting a life of it’s own, distinct from the creator.
My best works are those completed works that allow me to wander around in my imagination within the image, feeling satisfactions that repeat with each visit.
Feel free to explore my paintings, drawings, and prints as long as you like; to enjoy the color, the light, the mood, and atmosphere. I hope they bring you pleasure too.
